**This review will hopefully not contain any spoilers**
First off, I need to say that I received an ARC of Charmed from the author in exchange for an honest review. So, here goes…

Charmed is the second book in the Death Escorts series by Cambria Hebert. However, it can be read as a stand-alone if you haven’t read Recalled, which is the first book. If you have read Recalled, though, then what happens in Charmed will probably make a little more sense to you.

In Charmed, you discover the back story of Charming, who did have a few brief appearances in Recalled. Charming also happens to be a Death Escort, working for G.R., just like Dex was. Charming is considered the best of the best. He’s been killing people for 90+ years, and he has only had a couple of mistakes. However, his actions in Recalled are what set the events in Charmed in motion…or so you think.

Charmed starts off with Charming’s back story, as I said above. Obviously, he dies, because he ends up in G.R.’s office, making a deal with the devil. He becomes a Death Escort and spends the next 90 years killing people for money. He has it all; good looks, charm, money, immortality. He’s the perfect assassin.

When Charming gets his newest assignment, he realizes that what he did with Dex has resulted in this punishment. G.R. wants to see him fail so he can be Recalled. Charming, however, plans to prove G.R. wrong.

Charming sets out to get to know his Target, the Senator of Alaska’s daughter. He knows once he gets in her good graces, killing her will be easy. Plus, he has six months. What could possibly go wrong?

Enter Frankie, a curvy blonde bombshell who just happens to be immune to Charming’s charm, or so it seems. Frankie first met Charming when he tried to kidnap her friend Piper in Recalled. She despises him, so when he walks into her job at the DMV one day, her first instinct is to call the cops. But she doesn’t. However, she does decide she needs to do a little bit of snooping to find out what he’s up to.

Frankie’s desire to stop Charming doesn’t exactly go as planned. Neither does Charming’s plot to kill his Target.

I won’t say anything more, as I don’t want to spoil the book. It does come out July 22nd, so I’m telling you guys now, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed Charmed, even a little moreso than Recalled. But my heart still belongs to Dex. *sigh* Anyway…

While reading Charmed, I have to admit, I kept picturing Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston as Charming. I couldn’t decide who I wanted to see more, if this ever became a film. lol

The only negative, I guess is the word I want, thing I have to say is I did think the ending was just a tad rushed. I liked the ending very much, but I just thought maybe it didn’t have to go by so quickly. Maybe that’s just me, though.

So, yeah. Even if you haven’t read Recalled, you’re going to want to read Charmed. It is definitely a worthwhile read. Loved it!
