Atlantis Twisting Tides is a novella in the Lost Daughters of Atlantis series. I haven't actually read any of the series, but was intrigued by the premise of the novella when offered the chance to read and review it. Mermaids and sirens have always fascinated me. It can also be read as a stand-alone, so that was another plus for me.

Twisting Tides, I believe, is a sort of tie-in between the fourth and fifth books in the series. After reading the novella, I now need to start the series from the beginning. That's how much I enjoyed this story.

Adria is a teenage princess, half mermaid and half Atlantean. During the planning of her brother's engagement and upcoming wedding, Adria decides to sneak off instead of helping out. She wants to go see the hurricane that's brewing up above.

Upon her arrival to the surface, she discovers a boat caught in the storm. On the boat is a young man named Kai. When Adria is caught watching, Kai calls to her. Instead of running away, she decides she needs to pretend to be human and try to help him. What Adria doesn't know is that Kai has secrets of his own.

I don't want to say anything more, as it may spoil things, especially if you haven't read any of the other books in the series. For me, though, I was rather intrigued by Kai's secrets, and I'm looking forward to finding out more about him.

The book is short, as it is a novella, but it's a fun, fast read that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The characters are easy to get attached to in such a short span of time, and the plot moves along at a nice pace without boring you and making you want to stop to do something else.

Overall, I'd give Twisting Tides a solid 4 stars. If you're into mermaids and paranormal romances, definitely get started on this series. If you're not ready to commit to a series, but are still intrigued, get a copy of Twisting Tides. I can guarantee you won't regret it.
