Synopsis

Then, what a person would say if they had the guts to go Beyond Politically Correct and say what they really believe, to be Brutally Honest, is shown for the same situation. TRUMPED! Beyond Politically Correct: What You Would Say if You Had the Guts is a non-fiction book that offers up scenarios for everyday occurrences where you can choose to either say the right thing, or tell it like it is in a brutally honest fashion.

I found some of the short little stories to be amusing and funny, but others I just kind of rolled my eyes at. However, I do feel that coddling people and worrying about their feelings is a bad thing, except maybe in very rare situations.

I do think some of the situations had brutally honest responses that were a little too brutally honest. Take, for example, one of the relationship scenarios. It involved a wife buying a husband a card for their anniversary or something, and she wished she could find one that said how much she hated him and wanted to kill him. I think that's a bit much. I had an ex who was awful (emotionally/verbally/occasionally physically abusive), and even though I hated him and would have liked for him to go away permanently, I never would have given him a card that said something so harsh. I pretended throughout most of our relationship, and now I'm finally divorced and free to do my own thing. So, even though that might seem to be the not so politically correct thing to do, I think it's better to pretend and be PC in certain situations, especially if it involves your own safety.

However, I did enjoy the book, for the most part, and it was a quick read. If you're looking for something humorous, full of satire and witty words, and brutally honest, then give Trumped! a shot. You just might end up becoming a more politically incorrect person, which definitely isn't a bad thing.

I give Trumped! a rating of 3.5 stars.
