Her only escape is Over the Ivy Wall...
Clara Pendleton is a prisoner in her home. Always searching for new places to hide from her uncle, whose drunken attention terrifies and confuses her, she finds a tiny clearing in the back of the property near a disintegrating section of the ivy-covered wall that surrounds the estate.
Gaven Bridge has been sent to Clearwater to live with his Uncle Daniel. Never fitting in, he doesn’t believe he’ll ever meet anyone who understands him. But when he goes out for a walk in the woods, he happens upon a young lady sleeping soundly on a patch of moss.
A deep bond is fostered between them, helping Clara find the courage to change her life. When she finally decides to climb over the ivy wall and out into the world, there is no going back. Will Clara escape her horrible past, or will it destroy the love she and Gaven share?
"I fell in love even more with Clara and Gaven as their stories unfolded. To know where they came from, the downfall of their lives due to things beyond their control, captured my heart and mind and left me missing them once the final page was turned."

Excerpt
Gaven took the back
stairs two at a time, emerging into the hall in the back of the bar. From
there, he turned the old knob of the heavy wooden door and stepped out into a
small parking lot behind the building. His uncle was at work in the bar and wouldn’t
even know he’d left.
He walked around the
establishment and out toward the road, glancing back to see a laughing couple
enter the building as the sound of Bob Segar’s voice flowed into the street.
When the door shut, the music grew muffled, and Gaven walked down the sidewalk
with his hands in his pockets.
Clearwater, Wyoming was
the total opposite of what he was used to. West Palm Beach had been flat, every
street lined with palm trees, and nearly every road had multiple lanes. When
he’d still had a car—before he wrecked it in an accident that wasn’t his fault—driving in West Palm
had been problematic, at best. In this tiny town of less than five hundred
people, Gaven doubted driving was a big deal.
As he walked down Queen
Street, where the bar was located, he spotted a few ladies congregating in
front of Fast Check Grocery. They glanced his way as if gossiping about the
newcomer, then quickly averted their gazes.
What
is this, Maberry?
He quickened his step,
taking in the brick buildings, old-style architecture, and snow-topped
mountains that rose all around him, surrounding the town as if to separate it
from the rest of the world.
He felt out of place
here, but he just had to find something to do. Anything.
Maybe he couldn’t feel
much, but he wanted to discover something. Reading, learning, exploring; that’s
what he most adored. No matter the town, no matter how small or large, there
was always something new to learn. And whatever it was, he’d find it—just like
he always did.
