A list of books that had an impact in my life.
As a child, those that fueled my imagination…
~ The stories written before 1970 about Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne. I think I probably drove my mother
crazy because that was what I would constantly check out from the library
whenever we went.
~ Sleeping Beauty
by Charles Perrault. There was a recording of the story on vinyl that I would
listen to as much as I could when I was in grade school.
~ The works of C.S. Lewis, most specifically The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Sure, there are heavy Christian undertones to the story, but to be able to open
a piece of furniture and escape to a world full of wonder? How fun would that
be?
What started me down the path of the macabre and interest in
horror writing…
~ Reading the works of V.C. Andrews in seventh and eighth
grades
~ Reading my first Stephen King book in my freshman year of
high school and falling in love with his works
~ Reading Clive Barker’s books toward the end of high school and
into my early adulthood
~ Reading Anne Rice’s books when I became an adult
What started me down the path of romance reading and writing
and ultimately got me to where we are today…
~ A friend lent me her copy of A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux in ’95, and I loved it.
That made me want to start writing romance. My most favorite book by Jude
Deveraux is Remembrance.
The above is not a comprehensive look at my reading tastes.
I’ve also been influenced by the Literature and Sexuality class I took in
college in the early 90’s which dealt with erotic works, and I’ve recently been
reading Science Fiction. So there’s a lot that has influenced and impacted me
and continues to do so. I love to read and write because of the worlds I can
create and escape to. And I agree with the sentiment of C.S. Lewis, “I have
found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the
most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”
Thanks for reading!

Casey Moss delves into the darker aspects of life in her writing, sometimes
basing the stories on reality, sometimes on myth. No matter the path,
her stories will take you on a journey from the light-hearted
paranormal to dark things unspeakable. Casey's passion lies in darker
fiction. Her stories fall under the categories of horror, paranormal,
suspense, thriller and urban fantasy. Sometimes there's a blending of
those genres in one story. Sometimes there are romantic elements
within the books -- be sure to note the rating. Some of the stories
are even set within her home city of Las Vegas. But if she's done her
job right as an author, all the stories should set you on edge, leave
you craving and wanting to explore more of the dark. What waits
around the corner? Come explore...
