Fifteen years later, dragons are becoming extinct and riders are rare. One day, Ruskya is at the general store in town when a man announces that he is recruiting new dragon riders. Ruskya goes undercover, and discovers that there is another colony of riders with their own agenda—a quest to find a mysterious plant that could restore the dragon population, or destroy it. When a battle erupts between the two colonies, it’s up to Ruskya and his friends to fight for their dragons’ future, and their lives.

Follow Ruskya’s quest as he finds courage and friendship in this exciting middle grade fantasy series by new author Kandi J Wyatt.

Jennifer's Review

It was a very good book. I loved it.
It’s about twins named Ruskya and Duskya who are chosen by dragons to be their riders. They go to the village to visit their mother, end up meeting others who also get chosen to be riders, and they meet a trainer of riders named Glendyn.
Ruskya learns about his dad, meets the turquoise(blue) dragon who killed their dad, and has to fight the dragon.  The group also meets a healer and a young boy named Kyn. They learn about the hatchlings and a plant that the turquoise dragon rider is looking for.
Later in the story, Ruskya is forced to fight the dragon and his rider.
Does he succeed? What happens to them? Does the dragon rider ever find the plant?  What is the name of the plant? What does it do? What happens to Ruskya, Duskya, their mom, Glendyn, Kyn, and the healer? What about the dragons?
This book also offers a preview of the 2nd book. It’s a great book. Can’t wait to read what happens to everyone from the 1st book.
 I give it 5 stars.

Author Bio
Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved. Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that's her own five or the hundreds of students she's been lucky to teach. When Kandi's not spinning words to create stories, she's using them to teach students about Spanish, life, and leadership.
