EXCERPT
“Hmm … guess so. A little antibiotic cream and a band-aid, and that should take care of it until the
morning. I’ll check it again to make sure it’s not getting infected.”
“Uh … you, uh … don’t worry about it. I’ll be okay.” Great, now I’m stuttering.
Fingers smoothed the cream over the cut. Ryan lightly pushed on the ends of the tape, then trailed his
fingertips down her cheeks. The heat inside her rose. When he pushed up her chin, her eyes met his.
“I’ll head to my room. We don’t have many hours left to get any sleep, and we need to get what we can.”
The huskiness in his voice matched the desire that simmered in his eyes.
She realized her hands were on his chest. God, what am I thinking? This is not the time or place.
Stepping back, Kerry walked into the bedroom. Avoiding any glance at the bed, she held the door open.
As he stepped into the hallway, she said, “I haven’t thanked you for your timely appearance tonight.”
“Not necessary, but I’ll keep it in mind. I might come up with a way for you to say thank you when all
this is done.” He flicked a finger over her nose. “Don’t forget to lock the door behind me.”
The man was certainly sexy as hell, but he was also insufferable as she came close to slamming the
door.

Upon retirement, she became involved in a research project that dealt with the death of a witness to

that killed Lee Bowers, Jr.
The project jump-started a new career as an author and publisher, and she started a new business:

ReplyDeletePlease try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
