The Sherlock Effect by Raymond Kay Lyon - Guest Blogger Book Review
Synopsis
Christopher Sherlock
Webster always blamed his Holmes-obsessed father for burdening him with
an embarrassing middle name. He spent his school days desperately trying
to live it down.
But after his old man prematurely dies, Christopher finds that he has somehow inherited the very same obsession...
Teaming up with Mo Rennie, a marketing-conscious pal, he starts up an agency called Baskerville's, which specialises in the application of rigorous Holmesian method.
Here are five bizarre adventures from the files - a sumptuous feast upon which the gastronome of crime may gorge.
- A young beautician is stalked by a haunting stranger through the narrow streets of Cambridge. Yet he possesses love letters from the girl, ostensibly in her handwriting. How come?
- A science journalist disappears while investigating UFO sightings in Wiltshire. But is the explanation earthly or supernatural?
- When a pornographer receives death threats online he arranges protection 24/7. Will it work?
- A pop diva's boyfriend is kidnapped twice by animal rights extremists. Should the ransom be paid again?
- Everything in the garden seems rosy when a millionaire widower meets Miss Perfect through a dating agency. But the lady soon starts to behave oddly. Should the wedding plans be shelved?

Jennifer's Review
This is my review of The Sherlock Effect.
It is 5 short mystery
stories.
1. A pop singer’s boyfriend gets kidnapped, she pays the ransom,
and he is returned safely. Later, he gets kidnapped again, she wants to
pay the ransom, but first she hires Sherl and
his partner Mo to help her decide if she should pay or not. She leaves
the money where it was ordered to be left, the kidnapper gets it but is
foiled when he is caught. Who was the kidnapper?
2. It’s a mystery when a supposed alien and spaceship land in a small town. Is it a real alien and spaceship? Real or hoax?
3. This young girl is delusional, thinking her past boyfriend, who
she does not remember, haunts her. What happened to cause her delusions?
4. A woman works at a dating site and is looking for a man. A rich man
finds her and has requirements, so she makes herself up to fit them and
takes money from him for herself, or so he thinks. Who and what is
getting the money?
5. An old lady has a sister who dies under suspicious circumstances,
so she hires Sherl and Mo to investigate, and what they find out is
shocking. What do they learn?
Four stars for each story.

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
