In the fourth volume of the Fourth Talisman series, Nazafareen risks everything on a desperate gamble to stop the Vatras once and for all…
With Meb safely among her own people, Nazafareen has finally embraced her dangerous fire magic. She is the Fourth Talisman, destined to free the heirs from the wards binding their own extraordinary power. With Nocturne and Solis poised on the brink of war, the choices she makes will decide the fate of mortals and daevas alike.
Determined to confront Culach and make amends, Nazafareen goes to Val Moraine, setting off a chain of events that ultimately leads her deep into the perilous wasteland called the Kiln and the faceless enemy waiting there. But the ancient hatred that shattered the world a millennium before is stronger and far more devious than she and her companions imagine.
Is the Viper truly dead? And can Nazafareen triumph without facing the darkness that lurks within her own heart?

My Review
I think this series is going to be the death of me. And I mean that in the best possible way. It's so good, but it always leaves me anxious and wanting more. Nemesis was no different. That ending...ugh. I'm dying.

Nemesis picks up with Nazafareen heading to the mountains to find Culach. Javid is now deep in with the new King of Samarqand. And the Pythia... well, she's crazier than ever, but Thena know the truth now, and she's not as loyal as she used to be.

The characters and their intertwining storylines is what makes this series so exciting. I love that there's so much adventure, albeit not a fun one, but still. Some characters are determined to stop the clans from starting a full-on war.  Other characters are eager to bring down some serious wrath and pain to avenge their clan/themselves. Then there are a couple of characters on the fringes, not wanting to get involved, but knowing they'll be caught in the crosshairs if they don't do...something. Anything. And there's even a character so far gone, it's possible he doesn't care either way what happens.

I felt like there was a lot going on in this book, and it kept me on my toes. Would Thena reveal the Pythia's secrets, or would she try and take her down on her own? What would Nazafareen find herself getting into once she arrived at Val Moraine? Would Javid perish under the insanity of the King? The plot built and built and built, heading for a breaking point, and when it finally happened... Yikes!

I quite enjoyed Nemesis, and if you haven't started the series, yet, you definitely should give it a whirl. It's spell-binding. So well-written, with characters you'll love, characters you'll hate, and some seriously awesome world building. You kinda feel like you've been sucked directly into the past.

I'm just eager and anticipating more to the story now after the way Nemesis ended. I really hope Nazafareen lets herself go. It'll be pure insanity, but oh so worth it. I can't wait.

I'm giving Nemesis 4.5 stars. Highly recommend!

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
