1911 Bath. Banished from her ancestral home, passionate suffrage campaigner, Esther Stanbury works as a window dresser in Pennington's Department Store. She has hopes and dreams for women's progression and will do anything to help secure the vote.
Owner of the prestigious Phoenix Hotel, Lawrence Culford has what most would view as a successful life. But Lawrence is harbouring shame, resentment and an anger that threatens his future happiness.
When Esther and Lawrence meet their mutual understanding of life's challenges unites them and they are drawn to the possibility of a life of love that neither thought existed.
With the Coronation of King-Emperor George V looming, the atmosphere in Bath is building to fever pitch, as is the suffragists' determination to secure the vote.
Will Esther's rebellious nature lead her to ruin or can they overcome their pasts and look to build a future together?

Procrastination – How I broke the cycle!

Thirteen years and twenty novels later, I’ve come to the conclusion that procrastination is synonymous with writing. With today’s world of constant social media alerts, instant responses to emails and advertising flashing up every time you visit a website, it becomes hard to resist wasting hours ‘just having a quick look’ at this, that or the other.
Most writers are at their computers for the majority of any given day, and I challenge any one of my learned colleagues not to raise their hand and shout ‘guilty!’ of spending far too long looking at websites, articles and social media accounts that have nothing to do with their work or current project.
In October last year, I lost my dad after a long battle with dementia and watching him pass was the hardest and harrowing experience of my life so far. Between his death and the funeral and for some weeks afterwards, my ability to concentrate, create or find joy in my work was impossible.
But time doesn’t stand still.
Deadlines still loom.
Promises given need to be met.
So, I picked myself up and faced the music…or the backlog. My first reaction was to run and hide, but I’m a firm believer in ‘seek and you shall find’. So, the first thing I did was reach out to friends who work alone or own businesses where they are solely responsible for keeping things going, no matter what.
I soon recognised a common factor between these amazing women I hadn’t been utilising anywhere near enough in my work… PLANNING!
Simple, right??
Why hadn’t I realised how beneficial long-term, intentional planning, can be to a writer, an entrepreneur? So, I bought a diary and planned out the next few weeks, allotting time to everything I do in any given day. Time for emails, social media, blogging, novel writing, walk the dog, lunch. Everything!
And guess what?? My procrastination has been non-existent for the last three months, my productivity has soared and, most importantly, I am happier and more positive than ever before. For anyone struggling or feeling overwhelmed, treat yourself to a beautiful planner and take the time to work out every task that need to be done and when and plan out your week/month to the hour. I guarantee you’ll feel freer, happier and ready to take on the world.
I know I do!

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
