The Teeth of Giants by Gordon Wallis - Book Tour & Review
The
Teeth Of Giants
In the brutal
war on Elephant poaching in Africa one man takes a stand against a ruthless
international ivory smuggling syndicate. A stand that almost costs him
everything.
Jason Green never for one minute expected the appalling violence and horror he would endure when he returned to Africa to pay his respects to an old friend.
A profound sense of guilt and nostalgia prompts London based ex soldier Jason Green to return to Africa for the funeral of an old friend killed in suspicious circumstances in The Zambezi Valley. He is about to be sucked into the murky and brutal underworld of the illegal ivory trade. Grave injury and a burning desire for revenge thrust Green from the blistering heat of The Zambezi Valley to the tropical coast of Mozambique and beyond. Every tortured step of this journey is fraught with extreme danger and the ever present threat of death.
The Teeth Of Giants is the second novel by Gordon Wallis featuring his main character Jason Green. Readers of thrillers set in Africa will devour the frenetic pace and sheer brutality of this gritty crime thriller.

My Review
The
Teeth of Giants is an intriguing revenge story that showcases the
lengths one man will go to to take down the evil people who not only
killed his friend, but are also involved in illegal ivory trades.
This book is brutal, slightly nauseating, and intense. It also felt a little bogged down at times, especially in the second half of the story. Maybe it was just me, though. I thoroughly enjoyed the action and craziness of the first half of the book, but it did slow down some in the last half, and I found myself wanting more action and less of everything else going on. I did like the ending, though.
The Teeth of Giants starts off with a pretty gross scene (trust me, it's nauseating even to someone with a strong stomach), and then it launches into the main story. And, boy, it's a doozy. What happens throughout the first 50% or so of the book is insane at times. Violent, bloody, and just good, fun revenge (yes, I'm a sucker for a good bit of karma raining down on people who deserve it).
But, like I mentioned above, the last 50% or so is a little less intense. A little slower paced. It doesn't have as much action, but there's still the need for revenge, which I liked.
I don't want to spoil anything, though, so I'll leave it at that.
The characters are well-developed, and you definitely feel like you're right there in Africa with Jason as you're reading. That's a definite plus for me.
Overall, I thought The Teeth of Giants was a fascinating book with great characters and a thrilling plot (even when it was slow at times) that kept me on my toes.
I'm rating it 3.5 stars.
