EXCERPT
“You’re too hard on yourself, darlin’,” he said.
“You’re the most focused, persistent woman I’ve ever met.”
He lifted her chin and gazed into her eyes.
His eyes were a deep, soulful blue and as he intimately held her gaze,
it reminded her of their first meeting and their instant, almost spiritual connection.
“You’re kind, compassionate, caring.”
His voice was so low that it was more like a whisper fluttering against her cheek.
“The kids need that.”

She’d barely processed his sweet words when he leaned in.
He was going to kiss her! Holding her breath, she told herself to step back.
It wasn’t appropriate—they were working together, he wasn’t her type, she was on a man-ban.
The reasons to stop him were endless.

But as he continued to move toward her, she couldn’t.
He grazed his lips overs hers in a tortoise-like motion as if testing the waters.
His lips were warm and moist and her body pulsed and sparked as they generated heat hotter than
hell and half of Georgia.

He drew back and held her gaze, presumably giving her one last chance to move away.
But she couldn’t. His consoling words had comforted her, his embraced had warmed her,
and his kiss had left her wanting so much more.

As she acquiesced, the world around them transformed into a magical wonderland.
The moon’s light softened and the stars appeared so close that she could reach out and touch them.
Light glittered across the dark water like pixie dust and her belly fluttered as if it had been brushed
by fairy wings.

Author Interview
Author Interview
What are four things you can’t live without?
Nature, yoga, my
laptop (for writing,) and my stuffed Alf. Alf was a gift I’d given to my
grandmother because Alf was her
favorite TV show. After my grandma passed, Alf was given to me. He’s been with
me for years, and even survived a devastating house fire. My stuffed Alf made
it through the fire unscathed except for a single burn mark on his nose,
despite the fact that we lost all other material belongings in the fire. I
believe my grandmother’s loving presence was with us during that difficult
time, and I’m grateful to still have Alf (and my beloved grandma) in my life
today.
What is your favorite television show?
The Big Bang Theory…I love the humor and the eccentric characters.
Sadly, this is the show’s last season!
If you could be any character, from any literary work, who would you
choose to be? Why?
I would be the narrator
in Ishmael, who learns about humanity
and civilization from the gorilla, Ishmael.
What have you got coming soon for us to look out for?
I’m working on CC’s
story, the third and final book in my Racing Hearts in Serenity series. Restart in Bristol is another standalone
novel in this series, but readers of the first two stories will recognize CC.
He was briefly introduced in Nora’s
Promise and he played a larger role in The
Perfect Lap. Like with my other novels, there are plenty of new age,
spiritual themes in Restart in Bristol,
including using intentions to fulfill your desires and the idea that things
happen for a reason.
What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?
In the romance genre,
Nora Roberts and Jill Shalvis. I love the way Robert’s stories flow
effortlessly, and Shalvis’ humor and quirky characters.
I also enjoy reading spiritually
uplifting non-fiction books. My favorite authors are Deepak Chopra (not
surprising considering I studied at the Chopra Center and became a Chopra Certified
Meditation Instructor,) David Simon (co-founder of the Chopra Center,) and
Eckhart Tolle.

DeleteA big thanks to Jazzy Book Reviews for hosting this tour! Sedona
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome! :)
DeleteGood morning! My question today is if you have a personal favorite out of the books that you've written so far?
ReplyDeleteHi Bea - Thanks for your question. The Perfect Lap is my current favorite, mostly because I adore AJ Ryan! With this said, each new story I write seems to become my favorite so if you ask me in a few months, it'll probably be my WIP, Restart in Bristol, which is CC's story. It doesn't hurt that AJ is a part of my new novel, since he and CC are close friends. Thanks for stopping by the tour. Hope you have a great evening - :) Sedona
DeleteI liked the excerpt, thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Rita - I appreciate the compliment! Thanks for stopping by the tour - Sedona
DeleteHow do you come up for the names of the characters in your book?
ReplyDeleteHi Bernie - Well...I'd like to share a dazzling process, but to be honest I follow more of a "see what fits" strategy. When I start brainstorming story ideas, I pick names as placeholders. As I further develop story ideas and characterization, I decide if the name fits. Usually it doesn't and I change character's names several times until I feel like the name fits with the character and the story line. Thanks for the great question! :) Sedona

ReplyDeleteHi Victoria - Thanks for reading about The Perfect Lap, and I appreciate the compliments. I hope you're having a great start to your week! :) Sedona
DeletePlease try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
