Confessions of a Traveler: The Observations of Alien 597

Grotesque insect looking beasts, which burst out of your chest, and have acid for blood. Grey and short aliens with big eyes, who want to take over your mind, and they do horrible experiments with instruments that go up your anus. They’ve come to take over the world, and make you into a zombie or dinner. If they ever land in full view, they would either be worshiped and a new religion would form, or murdered immediately, and their ship parts sold to the highest bidder. Alien 597 read her report about aliens that humans had encountered.

A short story about an alien visiting Earth.

Author Q&A
1. What is the first book that made you cry?

-Fahrenheit 451. I didn’t cry, the book just made me depressed, but I loved it. Books that can stay with you for awhile after they’re read are the keepers.
2. How long, on average, does it take you to write a book?
-For a whole novel, a rough draft in a month, then months of edits galore. For a short story, about two weeks, including the edits..
2. How do you select the names of your characters?
-I give bad guys unique names, and good guys common names. It’s working so far.
4. What creature do you consider your "spirit animal" to be?
-A blend of a chihuahua and koala. A chihuahua because I don’t like the cold, I’m small, curious, and get nervous. A Koala because I can be laid back.
5. What are your top 5 favorite movies?
-Dark City, Ex Machina, Interstellar, Indiana Jones - All of them, Braveheart
6. If you were the last person on Earth, what would you do?
-I’d be writing about being the last person on Earth, and maybe I’d be able to do some traveling without all the crowds.
7. What fictional character would you want to be friends with in real life?
-Most of the characters I like trouble follows them, but Kilgore Trout from Breakfast of Champions. I think he’s misunderstood.
8. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
-Consistency is the key, keep writing. Write because you enjoy it.
9. What book do you wish you had written?
-Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
10. Tell us 10 fun facts about yourself! :)
-I’ve been eating Rice Krispies for about 2 years every morning, trying to change it up though
-I have a computer science degree
-I was raised in Corpus Christi and San Antonio, so I know a thing or two about 100 degree weather and humidity
-I’m afraid of flying
-I like soundtracks
-I was Kindergarten teacher for three years - those were the dark years
-Didn’t start drinking coffee till I was 40
-I have never been out of the country, but I do want to
-Latina!!!!
-Learned how to complete a Rubik’s cube. But after seeing people also do this on youtube, I no longer feel special.
