Faeries of Saizia

Zäria and Avery, two teenage faeries seeking adventure, get more than they bargained for when they start spying on the elves of Eerie Hollow. They discover why the elves are making delectable chocolates in the forest only to be captured by their adversary, Thordon who threatens them into taking on a quest. They run into more trouble while crossing through The Perilous Forest when they meet a witch with her own agenda. Their only hope is to locate an ancient faerie sanctuary they’ve only heard of in legend. Secrets are revealed about Zäria’s parents, which leaves her conflicted and forced to make some tough choices. Just when the fae think their troubles are over, the kingdom of Saizia is in danger of being destroyed. Will Zäria and Avery be able to get help on time? How will they defeat the evil Thordon? Inspired by the author’s children, Faeries of Saizia is a unique story that will instill a love for reading, love for nature, and belief in life’s endless possibilities.

My Review
Fairies of Saizia is a fun, exciting middle-grade fantasy novel about two young fairies named Zaria and Avery. They live in the land of Saizia and mostly keep to themselves, doing whatever job is given to them. Until one day the two decide to explore Eerie Hollow, which is inhabited by elves. Zaria and Avery discover there's more going on in Eerie Hollow, but before they can tell anyone, they're caught and imprisoned. Only completely a quest for evil Thordon, leader of the elves, can they earn their freedom and return home. Do they manage to save themselves and their kingdom before it's too late?
This book is definitely packed full of action, adventure, and even a little romance. There are some neat little secrets that are revealed as the story goes on, and younger readers will enjoy the twists and turns that Zaria and Avery must face while on their journey.
The characters are likable (save for maybe Thordon) and easy to root for. The world building will spark younger readers' imaginations. And the plot is paced well enough that it doesn't feel rushed, nor does it read too slowly. I think kids aged 7-13 will really like reading this story. Adults who like fairy stories and feeling like a kid again while reading will also enjoy Fairies of Saizia.
4 stars from me!
