The Making of Daisy Hart by Karen Tjebben - Book Tour + Giveaway
Date Published: March 2019
Cassie Bowmont had what it took to succeed, at least that’s what she told herself. Hoping a change of pace and new scenery would get her creative juices flowing, she rented a beach cottage in the small town of Avenel where she could dip her pen into the steamy depths of adult romance. She didn’t need or want any distractions to thwart her progress, but she hadn’t counted on Chris Walker. After deciding that he would be a great muse for the hero in her book, she realized that a summer fling with him was just what the Book Gods ordered.
When Chris Walker spotted the small car on the shoulder of the road, his hero complex kicked in. Unable to ignore a damsel in distress, he pulled over to be a knight in a Ford F-150. He stomped through the flooded road and convinced Cassie to follow him to safety. After a goodbye wave in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly, he figured he’d never see her again, but Fate had other plans. When their paths crossed once more, he paused long enough to notice the delight in her eyes, the playful smirk on her glossy lips, and the determination of her spirit. His heart stuttered. His brain flooded with need, and a crack penetrated the wall around his heart.
They knew the summer was all they’d have but falling for each other was inevitable. The pleasure of lust somehow transformed into the contentment of love. When a jilted lover returns and sabotages their relationship, they must decide if they will be prisoners to the past or sail into their future.

Chris was tall enough to peer over the fence without
difficulty. There she was, her head and arms resting against the edge of the
pool with her bikini clad body floating on top of the water like a Siren from
the deep.
Was she singing along to the music?
He couldn’t help but smile when her sweet voice
harmonized with the singer’s. The soft melody bathed him in desire. He could
stand there all night and watch her. But he was smart enough not to do that. He
needed to make his presence known before he looked like some creepy stalker.
After this morning, if she caught him staring at her over her fence, when she
hadn’t invited him over, she’d kick his ass to the curb.
He cleared his throat and called out, “Hi there.”
Hi there? It
sounded like he was some weirdo who couldn’t think of a better way to announce
his presence. “Hey, Cassie?” he called out and waved his hand in the air in
greeting.
When the male voice cut through the music, Cassie
startled and jerked her body as she set her feet on the pool floor and stood
with her knees bent so that her chest was still submerged. Craning her head,
she looked over her shoulder at the man on the other side of the fence.
What the hell?
This was beyond creepy. How did he find
her? She may have thought about him all day, but that didn’t give him the
right to show up uninvited. Was she going to have to flee her summer retreat
because some guy couldn’t take a hint? The notion pissed her off. She wasn’t
going to give him the power to scare or control her.
She wasn’t sure if she should stay submerged in the
water or get out and grab her towel. If she got out, her body would be on
display. “What are you doing here?” she called out, her voice laced with
frustration.
“Oh,” Damn, the tone of her voice and the harsh set of
her face made it obvious that she was not pleased to see him. “Gary Mason
called me. Told me that his renter is having jacuzzi trouble. I offered to
help.” He held up the box of fuses and gave it a gentle shake. “I brought my fuses
in case that’s the problem.”
She was relieved when he used Gary’s name, but he could
find that information from the internet. But how would he have known where she
was staying? Gary must have called him.
“You’re Gary’s friend?” she asked hesitantly. Wouldn’t
that just be her luck? The man she wanted desperately to avoid kept popping up
in her life.
“Yes, actually I’m friends with his son, John.”
Mentioning John’s name gave his story credibility. Surely, she’d know he was
telling the truth.
She let out a sigh and said, “Let me get my towel.”
She stood, and all he saw was how her body looked like
one of those fabulous Charlie’s Angels
getting out a pool or the iconic sexy image of Bo Derek in her bikini. God, if
she ran to get her towel, his knees would buckle.
