Afterlife by Tracy Ogali
Summary:
"Death is never the end....It is simply a new beginning......Afterlife"
What do you do when your life falls apart? Who do you turn to for help?
This is a story about how to come to terms with the tragedy of losing a loved one.
Fox is lost, consumed by grief, unable to move on with his life.
Until one day he has an epiphany, so strong that he decides to go on a quest around the world
to search for the meaning of life. He meets all the wise creatures that provide him with their
philosophy. But nothing works. He feels like a failure. Then, out of the blue, a voice speaks to him:
a butterfly. She agrees to show him the way, and it is here, with her guidance,
that fox begins to learn about nature, who he is and the true wisdom of life and death.
When Tracy Ogali's husband died, she had to teach her two young children about life,
death and grief. Their journey together inspired Afterlife, a book which Tracy hopes will help families
cope with loss and learn to be hopeful for the future once more.

My Review
Afterlife is a beautifully illustrated book that follows Fox as he tries to understand the meaning of life.
Fox has lost a loved one, and now he's all-consumed with grief. He doesn't understand why
his father had to die. He's stuck in a rut and has lost his way in life.
Can Butterfly finally help Fox understand life, death, and everything in between?
Will he finally be able to move on with his life?
Afterlife is a wonderful story that has colorful, unique illustrations.
It's poignant, well-written, and presented in a way that is easy for young children to
understand. It's a book that will ease a melancholy heart and provide a way for children who may
have lost a loved one to ask questions and understand that death is a part of life.
While being saddened by a loved one's death is perfectly normal, it's not good to let that grief
take over your life and cause you even more pain.
Definitely a must-read for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one.
4 stars from me!
