Rage and Retribution
Can two wrongs ever make a right?

A man is found by the side of a canal, comatose and brutally attacked.
It quickly becomes clear that someone is abducting men and subjecting them to horrific acts of torture. After three days they're released, fighting for their lives and refusing to speak.
A councillor is accused of fraud.
Montague Mason is an upstanding member of the community. That is until he's publicly accused of stealing the youth centre's funds - an accusation that threatens to rip through the very heart of the community and expose his best-kept secret. But how far would he go to protect himself?
Two cases. One deadly answer.
As the two cases collide, D.I. Paolo Sterling finds he has more questions than answers. And, when torture escalates to murder, he suddenly finds himself in a race against time to find the killer and put an end to the depravity - once and for all.

Author Q&A
1.       What is the first book that made you cry?

When I was very young I won a book called Merrylegs as an award. It was the story of a pony who had a donkey friend and they were happy together, but then Merrylegs was sold to an evil man who ill-treated him. He missed his donkey friend and ran away to try to get back to him. I remember crying my eyes out every time something bad happened to Merrylegs and then sobbed with joy when he was finally back with the kindly farmer and his forever friend.

2.       How long, on average, does it take you to write a book?
I’m afraid for me that is a ‘how long is a piece of string question’ as it varies from book to book. I can write a first draft in a matter of months for one book, but then take years for another.

3.       How do you select the names of your characters?
If the character isn’t English (many of my characters are Eastern European) I go online and look for popular baby names and common surnames for whichever nationality is needed. For the others, they just come to me when I’m thinking about the character.

4.       What creature do you consider your "spirit animal" to be?
A horse – it’s my Chinese zodiac sign and it fits my personality.

5.       What are your top 5 favorite movies?
Living in Spain, I don’t get to see many English-language movies, but from years gone by I would have to choose these:
Cinema Paradiso
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Café
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Breakfast Club

6.       If you were the last person on Earth, what would you do?
Cry with loneliness. As the last person, there wouldn’t really be anything else I could do.

7.       What fictional character would you want to be friends with in real life?
Miss Marple – I love the way her mind works.

8.       Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Don’t listen to anyone who tries to put you off. If you want to write, then do it. Also, don’t allow praise from family and friends to turn your head. Join a writing group and get objective feedback. Listen and learn, but don’t feel you have to follow every bit of advice given.

9.       What book do you wish you had written?
Anything by Terry Pratchett or Georgette Heyer – two brilliant writers who created characters, settings and dialogue I’d give anything to be able to match.

10.   Tell us 5 fun facts about yourself! :)
I run 5 km five times a week
I have lived in South Africa, on the Island of Gozo, in France, and now Spain.
I wake up every morning determined to go on a diet. I go to sleep every night wishing I hadn’t had that last piece of cake/bread/chocolate.
I taught myself to touch type at the grand old age of 50
I write hard-boiled crime, but everyone I meet is shocked by how nice/kind/sweet I look and can’t imagine where my plots come from. I always tell them: I have an evil mind!
