Five Minutes, Alfie

Alfie snuggles down in bed,

dreams still in his little head.

He dreams he's a king going out for a ride.

"A dragon sleeps in front of the gate," they cried.

How will they succeed in waking him up?

By helping each other and lots of luck.

My Review
Five Minutes, Alfie is an adorable children's picture book about a little boy named Alfie who is given an extra five minutes before he needs to rise and shine. He drifts off to dreamland, and there he becomes a brave king who must face a dragon. Does he succeed in helping the village move the dragon away from the gate he slumbers in front of?
I thought this was a great read. The pictures are engaging and bright. The story itself has an underlying message of helping others and working together. It's also a "loud" story, with noises being featured to wake the dragon. Young readers will enjoy shouting along with the rhyming scheme the story features.
Five stars from me!
