Detective Inspector Hunter Wilson is called to the scene of a murder. DCs Tim Myerscough and Bear Zewedu found a corpse, but when Hunter arrives it has disappeared, and all is not as it seems.
Hunter recalls the disappearance of a dead body thirty years earlier. The Major Incident Team is called in but sees no connection – it is too long ago. Hunter is determined to investigate the past and the present with the benefit of modern DNA testing.
Tim has other problems in his life. His father, Sir Peter Myerscough, is released from jail. He, too, remembers the earlier murder. There is no love lost between Hunter and Sir Peter. Will Hunter accept help from his nemesis to catch a killer?

Author Q&A
1.
What would you consider to be your
Kryptonite as an author?
Tenacity. If you want to make something of
being an author, you have to keep working at it, thorough the good times and
the bad.
My mother used to set aside Sunday afternoons
when, after lunch, she would read the classics to my sister and me. She read to
us books by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Arthur Ransome and Charlotte Bronte.
It was a peaceful hour or so when we could enjoy cuddling and being told a
story. Unbeatable memories!
It would be fun to visit the world of Alice
in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass. The crazy characters and
magical foods would be delightful to experience.
Loyal, Imaginative and Generous
Rear Window, directed by Albert
Hitchcock. It is set in one room but tells a human story about the main characters’
lives as well as brilliantly revealing a who-dun-it.

Author Q&A
2.
If you could tell your younger writing
self anything, what would it be?
Releasing your book to allow other people
to read it and comment on it is difficult. Accept not everybody will enjoy your
writing, and that is okay.
3.
What book do you feel is under-appreciated?
The Secret by Katharine Johnson
How about overrated?
The One From The Other by Philip Kerr
4.
Favorite childhood memory involving
books?
5.
If you could dine with any literary
character, who would it be and why?
Bertie Wooster, served by Jeeves of
course. I think it would be hilarious and exasperating in equal measure to try
to make sense of Bertie’s plans and enjoy his thinking process.
6.
What fantastical fictional world would
you want to live in (if any) given the chance?
7.
Did you want to be an author when you
grew up?
No, I wanted to be a lawyer and
worked in that profession for many years. Then I moved to lecturing, teaching
at University and loved that work. It was only after I contracted cancer and
was unable to work outwith my home that I began to write. I love it and would
never go back.
8.
If you had to describe yourself in three
words, what would they be?
9.
What is your most unusual writing
quirk?
I don’t like to write in the morning.
I do my emails, blog posts and housework in the mornings and write from about
2pm onwards.
10.
What’s one movie you like recommending to
others?
11.
If you could own any animal as a pet,
what would it be?
Cats. I have owned cats all my life
and love to share my home and space with them.
12.
Have you ever met anyone famous?
Yes. I have met several famous people
including the late Senator Edward Kennedy and the author and anthropologist
Kathy Reichs but I do think it is more important that the people I meet are
good company than famous.
