Eternal Forever by Syl Waters - Book Blitz
Eternal
Forever
Fame, glory and… foul play!
Jessie was a shop worker dreaming of
the big time, then YouTube found her. But staying in the limelight requires
meticulous management: pop stars are made not born.
With awards night approaching, the
pressure’s on for Tito, Jessie’s manager, to whip her into shape. Getting so
close wasn’t in the contract, but then neither was him being murdered in Spain.
Alone and scared of the negative
publicity, Jessie turns to Mack, her account manager at Eternal Forever, the
UK’s first digital legacy management agency. But Mack’s got his own issues: the
company’s fast running out of cash, his key developer’s on the turn and a
blogger’s suicide looks suspicious.
With
the assistance of J-Pop, Mack’s assistant and wannabe reality TV star, Jessie
turns sleuth. But in a world where everybody’s watching, it’s hard to escape. Reputation is everything and some people will do anything to
protect it.

Jessie looked slyly across at Tito. He was looking
pumped. She cursed herself. She shouldn’t be thinking like this. She and Tito
had been friends forever, grown up together, like brother and sister. She
shouldn’t be having these thoughts. Her eyes flicked over his strong arms
gripping the steering wheel, always in control. Tito was always in control. But
he wasn’t one of those domineering men, his strength was more internal,
grounded, hidden. He had nothing to prove; he knew he was the best.
I wonder what he’s like in bed?
She dug her bright orange
Shellac nail into her lip, gnawing its edge. She couldn’t help herself. She
grinned at him, smiling at his pillowy lips, his smooth, polished teeth,
thinking of them biting down into her. Tito caught her glance.
“What are you grinning
for?” His eyes met hers briefly as he indicated to turn left.
Was there a twinkle? Did he get it? Did he feel it too? Was
this a mutual meeting of ‘What Could Be?’
“I’m just happy,” she
replied, giving him what she hoped was a secret signal.
Would he get it? Would he see it?
Tito pulled into the car park
of the hotel. It was a whitewashed grand façade villa set back from the main
esplanade and the noise of the beach. A more romantic honeymoon place rather
than business suited efficiency, with a wide polished tiled terrace reminiscent
of olden day colonialism.
The doorman, a dapper guy
in his mid-thirties festooned in a sharply cut but loose burgundy suit,
approached them. His strong sun-burnished face lit up in barely concealed
excitement as he glimpsed the occupants of the vehicle.
Jessie. 23 years old.
Hotter than hot hotcakes star of the moment. She’d already managed to bag one
hit record, and now it looked like life was about to propel her in a whole new
direction. She had YouTube to thank for that – from nowhere to somewhere.
Jessie’s was the digital-era’s Spinderella success story. But she wasn’t going
to be a one hit wonder. She’d had a taste of success – and she wanted more.
More, and more, and more, and more. She was young, impishly pretty with a
turned-up cute button of a nose and cartoonishly big blue eyes with heaps of
glossy black lashes that made her appear like a small, sexy doll. Her song I Want U Now had become anthemic for the
summer, but now winter was drawing close and she didn’t want to lose her
moment. She knew you didn’t get many chances. Fifteen minutes of fame had
descended to less than a nanosecond. Everywhere she looked ‘Z’ list reality
stars and wannabes were exploding onto the scene. If she was going to make it,
she had to grab her moment now. NOW.
