When Autumn Blackwood shows up at Windhaven Academy for the Witching Stick
Orientation, she hopes to find out what dormant powers she could
possibly possess to have been accepted to the elite supernatural
school. Instead, the academy is in chaos as everyone frantically
hunts for two missing girls.

But as school begins with Autumn no closer to figuring out her powers,
strange occurrences start to follow her everywhere. Even at home,
Blackwood Manor keeps many secrets, and Autumn can’t escape its
haunting past.

New friends urge her to learn more about her family’s history in order
to unlock her powers and make sense of what’s happening at
Blackwood Manor, but Autumn’s not so sure. Once an accident brings
Autumn face-to-face with death, however, she realizes her gifts are
tied to a legacy that can either save or doom them all…

Turns out being the town’s only necromancer could pose some problems when
the dead won’t stay dead.

“We’re going to need as much help as we can get, Wade. You know this,” I say, reaching out for his arm.

Wade makes a face, but nods. “Doesn’t mean I have to like it.” 

“True,” I say softly. “We also need to find someone else. Abigail was cryptic, but she said that in order to make sure no more revenants rise, we need to consecrate the cemeteries.”

“How is that cryptic? Seems pretty straight forward.”

“She said it has to be done by someone who has been ‘touched by death, but who doesn’t want to control it.’” I say, using air quotes. “Whatever the hell that means.”

Wade’s eyes widen and he recoils like I just told him I’m about to grow horns.

“What is it?” I say, narrowing my gaze and reaching out for him.

He shakes his head, his hands flying to his hair, as he rakes his fingertips though the strands. “That can’t be. No…”

“Wade?”

Suddenly, his expression brightens. “I know exactly who you’re looking for.”

Being haunted by ghosts isn’t unusual for Autumn, but this time it’s
someone she didn’t think was dead.
