My Review
The Wicked Oath is a dark young adult novel set at a private all-boys boarding school. While it is the second book in a series, it can be read on its own, although reading book one would probably give even more insight into the goings-on at the school.
I did find the book a bit slow at first, and it was a little hard to get into. Once it gets going, though, it's a pretty decent read.
I can't say I particularly cared for many of the characters. A lot of them are awful, although I did like Olivia, and Jonathan wasn't bad.
There is a sense of foreboding throughout, and with each turn of the page, readers will wonder what sort of punishment the prefects might dole out next.
Sensitive readers may want to proceed with caution, or avoid altogether, because the book is a bit dark, and it deals with some serious subject matter.
Overall, the book was a pretty good read, although I did struggle a bit to get through it.
If you're looking for a YA read that deals with darker subjects, give The Wicked Oath a try.
3.5 stars from me.
