Gwen and Sherri, not sensing the tension, walked in, hand-in-hand, first. They stopped in the kitchen before turning back to me.

Sherri asked, “So, are we going to be seeing more of James? It looked like tonight was a success.”

In an attempt to break the tension building on my face, I shook my head. “Probably not. Nothing has really changed. Sorry.”

Gwen winked. “Don’t be sorry. If you’re not feeling it, that’s the way it is. We’ll find your special someone eventually. We’re all on the hunt now.”

“Oh great,” I said, rolling my eyes.

Aeria chuckled before taking Damon’s hand. “I think we’re going to head on to bed. Brenna, can I talk to you for a minute in my room?”

Only Damon noticed the exchange of glares between Aeria and I. Feeling my hesitation, he grabbed my hand and pulled me forward.

Sherri hooted, “Oh, maybe that’s what you needed the whole time!”

“I’d rather puke up my intestines first, thanks,” I shouted as I was dragged down the hall.

Damon held his free hand up in offense. “Don’t tell me I’m not pretty.”

Glaring at him, I jerked my hand free. “I’d rather screw your girlfriend.”

“Thank you?” Aeria said questioningly before laughing and commenting on us being ridiculous.
