Hilarious and heart warming true
stories of a Pet Sitter.
Laura takes us
on her journey describing the immense joy that
the animals have brought into her life. But it’s not all fun and
games. With sometimes as many as ten dogs around her
home, things can get a tad hectic. Not to forget
the every day challenges faced in keeping the pets happy
and safe when out walking. Luckily she is not alone in her
quest; her unusually dominant Golden Retriever ‘Brece’ is always
by her side. Brece earns her keep
by convincingly playing the part of the alpha
female, ensuring harmony amongst the pack.
At times, the responsibility that Laura faces
becomes overwhelming. She may think she has everything covered but that hand of
fate could quite easily swoop down, creating havoc for her and the dogs. Laura
has endured many close calls and teetered on the precipice of disaster may a
time. The longer she continues with her pet sitting enterprise, the more likely
hood that total disaster will actually strike. Is she tempting fate?
Laura Marchant is the Bridget Jones of the pet
sitting world!

Author Q&A
1. What
would you consider to be your Kryptonite as an author?
Writing
from experience and trying to get my passion to jump off the pages.
2. Did you
want to be an author when you grew up?
No
to be honest, I wasn’t that interested in books. It was more about music for me
back then.
3. If you
had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Tenacious,
compassionate and quirky.
4. What is
your most unusual writing quirk?
When
I was writing this book I got a lot of inspiration when out walking with the
dogs. I watched the animals behave and I made my observations. Also watching a
dog would sometimes trigger amusing antics from the past. On my return I would write notes then try and
decide if the story was worth a place in the book. Would it appeal to others
and if so where would it fit?
5. If you
could own any animal as a pet, what would it be?
There
are so many other animals that I would like to own. Ideally I would like my
very own small menagerie. But I would settle for meeting kola bears, grizzly
bear cubs, and swimming with dolphins
6. Have you
ever met anyone famous?
In
my youth I was a dancer for Ken Dodd, a diddyman infact. Apologies to young
people who probably don't know who the dickens Ken Dodd was.
7. How long, on average, does it take you to
write a book?
I have only written one book and it
took me 2 years, it was a long process
but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
8. How do you select the names of your
characters?
I try to pick imaginative names
that the reader may warm to, I think this helps to get people on board with the
character. In my opinion If the reader likes the name there is more chance they
will warm to the charater.
9. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Stick with it,
if you can’t get a publisher self publish but do your research.
Laura Marchant was born in 1959 in
the seaside resort of Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England. Both her parents
were born in the same town, so not exactly a family of intrepid travellers! As
a child Laura and her siblings were fortunate enough to own shares in the
families pets. Unbeknown to Laura at the time, her love for the animals formed
the blueprint for a large part of her life. In 2011 she finally found her
vocation, and in the comfort of her own home, set up a pet boarding business.
For the next 7 years she shared her abode with a pack of dogs. A lot of this
time was spent watching over the animals and observing their behaviour, which
in turn inspired her to write her first novel 'Trials and Tribulations of a Pet
Sitter'.

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
