Talk about how you come up with character names
My two main characters are names I really like.
I wanted to use names I liked for them but not names I would use for my kids;
that is something I wanted to keep separate. Then I decided for any other
characters I would honor people in my life.
I had always planned to put character names
starting in book two with one of my favorite people, my aunt Terry. Then I decided
to surprise her when I realized how much it meant to her and do it in the first
book. Emma’s mom is named for her using her full name. She cried reading the
book and it meant the world to me to see her so happy. The rest of the
characters are named for people in my life I have been close with but have
passed away. It is my way of honoring their memory and making the books a
little bit more special. For me little things are symbols and I know only my
family will know the names used but that is ok. That is what I wanted and for
me it makes this book series mean even more.
