My Review Daddy's Weekend is a cute children's book about the special bond between a father and his daughter. While her parents may be divorced and living in separate houses, Tehya enjoys spending special weekends with her daddy. In the story, they have a magical, fun weekend at the fair, the market, and even the park. They have a picnic, and they even make dinner together. The story also promotes good manners, among other things. I thought this was a sweet book, and I liked that it showcased a mixed-race family with both parents showering their daughter with love. I think that's important, regardless of what may have happened with the parents to cause them to divorce. Kids need that comfort, trust, and love. As a child who grew up with divorced parents, and neither of them being particularly caring about their kids, I know how hard that can be. So seeing how wonderful Tehya's mom and dad were given the circumstances made me happy. The illustrations are lovely, and they made the story come to life. Overall, I think this is a special children's book, and I would recommend it all families from all walks of life. 5 stars!
