Excerpt
Boy is waiting for Sasha so that he can
tell her he loves her and they can start their life together. The only problem
for Sasha is that she doesn’t even know he exists.
He glanced over to the apartment block, but no light shone in her window. Where was she? He’d left work early just for her. His hand gripped the flower stems so tight he could feel each strand of string tying them together. Forcing himself to relax, he dropped the roses back into the bag. Shaking his head, he closed the zip, shutting them from view.
She didn’t know yet she had to come
straight home and not keep him waiting. That would be the first lesson he’d
teach her. Some understanding of her role would be in order before he handed
over the posy of roses.
Another five minutes passed and still no
welcoming light showed in her window. He reached into his pocket and pulled out
a bag of sweets. They had always been Grammy’s favourites, but he liked them
because each one carried a special message. He wondered which one he would need
for tonight. When he’d first arrived, he was convinced it could only be ‘She
Loves Me’ but now that she’d kept him waiting for so long, maybe he’d have to
sort out a different love heart.
Breathe, he told himself; don’t let her selfishness
ruin the evening. He would soon encourage her to become a better person.
Author Bio
– Born and raised in South East London, Lorraine lived and worked in

del Sol in Spain. She lives with her partner in a traditional Spanish village
inland from the coast and enjoys sampling the regional dishes and ever-changing
tapas in the local bars. Her knowledge of Spanish is expanding. To stop her
waistline from doing the same, she runs five times a week.
Author of the D.I. Sterling series of novels,
Lorraine has been engaged in many writing-related activities. A columnist for
Writing Magazine, she has recently stepped down from writing two columns for
Writers’ Forum and also her role as head judge of the magazine’s monthly
fiction competitions in order to concentrate on her own writing. She is
currently writing two standalone psychological thrillers for Headline Accent.
