My Review
Camp Death is a mature YA horror novel set in England. It's very reminiscent of the old Christopher Pike novels, and it reminded me a little of Goosebumps (especially Welcome to Camp Nightmare), although a little more adult than that.
The story follows Ritchie and Sophie as they, along with their parents, take a vacation to a place called Camp Deathe. Ritchie's parents think it will help Ritchie get over his breakup with a girl named Kelly. But there's more than meets the eye at Camp Deathe.
With mysterious disappearances and rumors of a beast lurking in the woods, the vacation at Camp Deathe may just, in fact, lead to death.
I found this to be an enjoyable horror novel. I really liked how easy it was to read, and how it all ended. I had my suspicions about certain things, and I'm glad I was right about at least one of them.
This is a fun little horror novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. I'd recommend it to teens 16+ who enjoy spooky reads.
4 stars!
Jim writes dark psychological/thrillers, Horror and YA books that have endings you won’t see coming, and favours stories packed with wit. He has written over a dozen novels and many more short-stories spanning many genres.
Jim has a very strange sense of humour and is often considered a little odd. When not writing he will be found playing the drums, watching football and eating chocolate. He lives with his long-suffering wife, three beautiful children and two indignant cats in Swindon, Wiltshire UK.
