What makes your new book different to other healing books?
‘Spirituality, Healing and Me’ is my spirituality and healing journey, based on my unique life experiences, not knowing I was growing up with a disability. It is also uniquely written from a universal standpoint, so anyone reading the book may relate to their own experiences. The book also promotes positive messages and gives clarity to the reader on what they may get to deal with.
What would you like your readers to take
from your book?
I
hope my readers will see that even though their life may be difficult, and they
may start off in one place, it doesn’t mean they have to stay where they are.
Our lives are for us to change, and my experiences show we can.
The
overriding message in my book is that when we are determined, strong and
steadfast and we believe in ourselves, we may change certain elements of our
lives. Through my book, I would like my readers to take away a perception and
thinking that they too can change their life. It’s all about creating the
opportunities.
In your experience would you say there
is such a thing as ‘writer’s block’?
I have heard many people talk about writer’s
block, but luckily it has never happened to me. I think writing is a gift, but
there may be times when we may deal with stress and stressful situations and it
is perhaps in those times that we have writer’s block, which understandably can
make it difficult to get our thoughts down ‘on paper’.
How long have you been writing for?
I first starting writing in May 2010,
months after my cerebral palsy diagnosis so, I have been writing for 11 years
now. I initially started writing on my blog @TheCPDiary. Through a culmination
of years of writing, my first book Cerebral Palsy: A Story ‘Finding the Calm
After the Storm’ was published in January 2020 by @RedDoorBooks. ‘Spirituality,
Healing and Me’ is my follow-on book, also published by @RedDoorBooks, due to
be published on the 16th September 2021.
What advice would you give to a new
writer?
When
it comes to writing any non-fiction, it is important to be open and honest
about your experiences and to write from the heart with integrity and without
compromise. Success in the writing and publishing world is enormously difficult
to achieve, made worse because of the current Covid-19 pandemic, particularly
if you’re a non-celebrity.
My
advice is to measure success by personal achievement and no matter how
difficult it is, continue to persevere, because it is easy to become
disheartened and give up.

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
