MY REVIEW
**This review is courtesy of my 15 year old son (paraphrased by me to clean it up a little) who happens to be fascinated with researching and learning about all things WWII/Holocaust**
This book is eye-opening. The Holocaust was a terrible time in history, and this book showcases just how awful it really was. This isn't the same sort of information we learn about and receive in school. This is an in-depth account of a real-life hero who risked everything to gather information about the Nazis and the horrific things they were doing so he could warn others. This man, Witold Pilecki, should be known by so many more people. This book also includes photographs that bring the Holocaust to life. They're stark, bold, and depressing. It's a realistic look at something that never, ever should have happened, and it forces readers to acknowledge just how terrible things were.
The book, while showcasing a horrible tragedy, is done so in a way that is still tame enough for teen readers. I enjoyed learning about this man who risked his life to bring the atrocities of the Holocaust to light.
5 stars.
