My Review
My Cat is Blue is a sweet children's book about dealing with the loss of a pet.
A little girl is trying to figure out why her cat is blue. Her cat doesn't seem to care about chin scratches, fishy treats, or even cat toys. He just looks like he's going to cry. So she does what any loving pet owner would do--she takes him to the vet. The vet explains to the little girl and her family that their cat is lonely and has a broken heart after losing his best friend--the family dog. But she knows just the cure. There's a little kitten who lost its family and is alone. The little kitten is also blue. What happens when the two cats come together? Well, you'll just have to read it and find out.
This was a lovely little book. It tackles a tough subject in a way that young readers will be able to understand while also being poignant but heartwarming.
I may have gotten a bit emotional while reading it, to be honest. I lost one of my cats in 2017, and for a while after, my other cat "turned blue", if you will. She would sit and wait at the top of the stairs for her friend who never came back. But she's healed (and so have I, for the most part) and come to terms with everything, and she has two new friends who keep her on her toes.
My Cat is Blue is definitely a book that will help children understand grief and losing a beloved pet, and I would recommend it to all pet families.
5 stars!

Please try not to spam posts with the same comments over and over again. Authors like seeing thoughtful comments about their books, not the same old, "I like the cover" or "sounds good" comments. While that is nice, putting some real thought and effort in is appreciated. Thank you.
