Halloween is here, and it is Alicia’s favorite time of year. What's not to like about dressing up in a costume and getting free candy? But there is something even more exciting happening this year. For the first time, Alicia and her friends are throwing a virtual party in TullyTown!

Putting together a party in TullyTown isn't easy, and Alicia and her friends want to do the best they can to make sure it is enjoyed by plenty of avatars in TullyTown. For one of Alicia's friends, getting ready to throw a TullyTown party leads to looking for easy treats. But what if it's a trick?

Alicia has been using her tablet for a while and is getting more used to how to use the technology. However, there is always something new for her and her friends to learn.

My Review
Alicia Connected: Tricked with Treats is book two in the Alicia series. In this one, we see Alicia happily using her tablet to play her favorite game: TullyTown. Alicia is eager to earn TullyBux so she can buy an awesome Halloween costume in game for a party. Her friends are gearing up to host a virtual celebration in game, and it's going to be loads of fun. Or so Alicia thinks.
When one of her friends discovers a site offering free TullyBux, she doesn't stop to think about the potential consequences of trusting such a website. And when something bad happens to her friend's game, it's a harsh lesson to be learned.
It's a story that teaches kids about the importance of safety online, while also touching on subjects such as online bullying and the like (someone is mean to Alicia early on in the story).
I rather enjoyed this one. I think I liked it more than the first, but that's only because I'm a huge fan of Halloween and celebrating with decorations/costumes/etc. As someone who enjoys dressing up to hand out candy (and apparently being really scary this year to both kids and adults; I was a giant voodoo doll and sat very still on my porch until trick or treaters got close, and then I popped my head off 😂), and someone who remembers the early days of virtual games like Neopets and struggling to earn enough Neopoints to buy cool stuff for my pets, this book really resonated with me.
Alicia and her friends are very real and very likable. Younger readers can imagine these characters as their friends and relate to them. And the story itself is easy to get into and follow along with until the very end.
And, as mentioned above, the story also contains a great lesson/message for kids about being careful and diligent when online or playing online game. Hopefully it's something younger readers can talk to their parents about (or vice versa) so they can stay safe.
I would definitely recommend this book to others, young or old, to read.
4.5 stars!
