Book Description:

Cindi isn’t sure about this holiday called Valentine’s Day, but after her people pair dress her up like a flamingo and take her for a walk in front of her friends, and her handsome new neighbor dog, Chip, she doesn’t like it at all! She and her BFF, Pitty Pat, have been watching Chip ever since he moved next door. She wants to meet him, but not like this! Have you ever changed your mind about something? In this outrageously funny story, meet some of Cindi’s fur-friends and find out if she changes her mind about Valentine’s Day.

Cindi’s Chocolate Valentine is an especially SPECIAL book because it features 17 pets that were chosen as winners in the Cindi Features a New Friend contest last summer.  As you can imagine, their ‘people families’ are beyond excited about their pets being part of the story.  They had over 750 pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, hedgehogs, and even a chicken, goat, donkey and monkey enter the contest!

My Review
Cindi's Chocolate Valentine is a super cute children's book about a dog named Cindi. She and her BFF (a cat named Pitty Pat) discover the holiday known as Valentine's Day when their humans dress them up for the day. Embarrassed, Cindi hopes she won't have to see anyone else she may know, but unfortunately, she's taken for a walk, paraded around the neighborhood for all to see. And to make matters worse, there's a new neighbor dog named Chip who Cindi wants to get to know. But now she's too embarrassed.
Chip, however, has a surprise in store for Cindi, who then realizes maybe Valentine's Day isn't so bad after all.
This is a fun little story. It's got delightful illustrations and is easy to read. Kids will love Cindi and Pitty Pat (and the multitude of other pets featured within the pages as they go around the neighborhood). Plus, who doesn't love the adorableness of the name Chocolate Chip for a dog?
This is a lovely book that young readers will enjoy, especially around Valentine's Day.
5 stars!

~You may ask, “What makes this Valentine’s book so SPECIAL~
Answer:
The winning 17 pets of our Cindi Features a New Friend contest!

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that over 750 pets would have entered the contest!  The response was incredible!  Each day of the contest, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the most adorable pets and their loving ‘people’.  As the number of entries grew, it became increasingly difficult to choose just one winner.  The only solution was to select multiple winners.

My illustrator, myself and our panel of judges poured over the delightful pet photographs of dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, birds, horses, and even a donkey!  Many of the introductions brought us to laughter  ~ some to tears.  Attentively, we narrowed the winners down to 100, 50, 25, 20…. and ultimately, 17.

I am so very grateful for my illustrator, Janine Rhodes.  She accepted the challenge of drawing the likeness of all 17 winners with such enthusiasm and amazing details!

We are truly ‘over the top’ to be able to feature the pets in our Cindi’s Chocolate Valentine book, and as you can imagine, their ‘people families’ are beyond excited about their pets being part of the story!
