My Review
Our Lunar New Year is a delightful children's book with wonderful illustrations that showcase the different ways Asian cultures celebrate Lunar New Year. From dragon dances to firecrackers, there are many fun, unique ways to enjoy the festivities. Each culture has its own word for their celebration (like Tet or Diwali), which I think is a nice way to teach children new things. Not only is the book easy to read and follow along with, it's an educational experience for children of other cultures to learn about holidays in Asian countries. To see how they celebrate their New Year. It's a good introduction for kids into parts of the world they may not know much about, and I do believe this book will spark a desire to learn more about other cultures. Definitely a great book to have in your home, for readers both young and old. 5 stars! |
Meet the Author:
Yobe is an educator, entrepreneur and mom who lives in NYC. As an educator,
she focused on teaching families to embrace love, diversity and different
cultures. Through the years working in the classrooms and closely with other
educators, she noticed the lack of multi-cultural resources that represented
children of color. That is when Yobe decided to create multicultural
children stories that feature Asian children, families and cultures! Yobe
loves spending time with her daughter, reading to children and taking long
walks during the day!
