Writing my novel gave me discipline, patience, and gratitude.
I had discipline, patience, and gratitude before writing Nova’s Blade, but I will say that those things increased heavily over the course of writing the book. I had to focus on getting a job that would support me while I wrote. The job I got initially is not the same as my current one as a high school English teacher. The one I initially got was an office job as a clerk. From there, I had to have patience with people I dealt with at the job. I believe if it was any other year, I would have quit my job, because of the people I was dealing with. However, I understood the job was necessary to the completion of my book. Because of the book, I stayed focus, motivated, and patient to deal with everyday life. That is why I am grateful to write this book. Regardless of what happens in terms of sales and success, the effect this book had on me personally is wonderful. It developed my character. It also made me more tolerant of other people. By me taking the action to not act out with emotions, it changed my behavior from wanting to act out with emotions. I found myself to be calmer. I think one reason I allowed myself to be so focused on writing the book was because I saw it as something that was doable. I had a plan, I could see. In the past, I had plans, but for me I didn’t know how to get there. With Nova’s Blade, I made a plan, and I saw how I could get there. Realizing the plan was doable, I set myself on the path of doing it.
