Wild Creatures in the Neighborhood and What If I Went to the Circus are the first two tales in this book. Wild Creatures in the Neighborhood talks about the different animals you may see out in the wild in and around your neighborhood. Creatures like raccoons, bears, coyotes, etc. Even in cities, you may see some of these animals, although that may not be as common as if you live in a more rural area. I live in a small city, and we have raccoons, skunks, foxes, and occasionally a bear. This is a quick, easy to read story that young readers will enjoy because they'll get to learn about different animals. Fun!
What If I Went to the Circus is the second tale, and this one is about a little boy who dreams of going to the circus to make friends with and play with the animals. But then he realizes that each animal may not be the best choice for a friend. Like the elephant who might crush all of the toys, or the tiger who might eat his baby sister. Instead, the little boy decides it would be best to just wait for his sister to wake from her nap so he can play with her instead. It's a short, quick, cute read, and young readers will find it silly and fun.

Cheryl Carpinello taught high school English for 25 years. During that time, she worked with numerous students who didn’t like to read for a variety of reasons. However, she discovered that even the most reluctant readers became engaged in the classroom and in reading when she introduced units on King Arthur and the works of ancient world writers. Upon retiring, she set out to write fast-paced, action-filled stories in these setting to encourage young readers to read more. Her success with readers aged 8-16 led her to reach out to the youngest of readers and those readers just starting out. Revising stories she had written for her own children, she created Grandma/Grandpa’s Tales for ages 4-7.  Her four grandchildren’s conversations created the stories in Book 3 of this series.
