GUEST POST
In each book in the series, you have a supplemental activity/craft to go along with the story. Can you tell us about that?
Having a degree and work experience in elementary education, I know the importance of connecting the reader with the story emotionally and physically. By adding a craft or activity at the end, readers can continue the journey with the character after finishing the book and foster a greater love for reading. In Alycat and the Thursday Dessert Day, there is a recipe to make Alycat’s Popcorn Popsicles in the back of the book since she made this dessert in the story. Alycat and the Monday Blues has a song with lyrics that the reader can sing as Alycat did in the story’s talent show. Alycat and the Tournament Tuesday has a glossary of golf words to entice readers to pick a club and try something new. Alycat and the Friendship Friday has instructions to make Friendship Friday Bracelets as Alycat did to solve her friendship problem. The idea is to write your friends’ names on each link (as opposed to only one best friend) or creative friend-related phrases. This teaches children to include all friends in their circle and be accepting of others. By connecting crafts and activities to their reading, it promotes reading comprehension and a love for literature.

MY REVIEW
Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday is a fun children's book about Alycat having "one of those days" where everything just seems off. Instead of a normal breakfast, her parents serve gumbo. Instead of being the first one on the bus, she's the last. Alycat doesn't really understand what is going on, or why her day is so strange all of a sudden, but instead of letting it bring her down or stress her out, she makes the most of it by going along with the changes.
This was a cute story that young readers will really enjoy. It's easy to read, with delightful illustrations, and it shows kids that, with a positive attitude and mindset, every day can be a good day.
A wonderful book that I would recommend to all young readers.
5 stars!
