Guest Post
Hello everyone! I am Victoria Otto, a children's picture book author, and I am here to share more about myself and my books. Thank you to the sweet Jasmine at Jazzy Book Reviews for having me do a guest post on her blog. Today I am sharing a cut scene from my latest children's picture book, Sunny and the Cats. As the manuscript got closer to being finished and ready for publication, I decided to cut this scene as I felt it did not add much more to the story and seemed to be an unnecessary filler. But I'd love to hear what you think. Did I make the right choice by cutting this scene out of the book?

It turned
out that making new friends was a lot harder than he guessed, but he wasn't
ready to give up. Once upon a time, Sunny's kite had gone into a tree. If he
had a cat friend, that cat could have helped, and dogs could swim across rivers
and dig holes when cats needed help with that too. It just didn't make sense
that they weren't friends.
MY REVIEW
Sunny and the Cats is a cute children's book about cats and dogs. But it's more than just that. It's also a story about friendship and embracing the fact that even though we are all different, we should all be kind and accepting of one another.
All of the cats live in Meow Village, where everything is quiet and clean. All of the dogs live in Woof Village, where things are loud and dirty. No cats are allowed into Woof Village, and no dogs are allowed into Meow Village.
Sunny the dog doesn't understand why, though. He just wants to play with the cats. So he decides to take a chance and wander over to Meow Village. But what will the cats do when Sunny arrives?
This is a delightfully fun story that kids will want to read over and over again. Who doesn't love cats and dogs? The illustrations are great and really bring the story to life. It's an easy to read story that will bring a smile to your face. I highly recommend it to all young readers.
5 stars!
