The Blackened Tablet Series is an epic fantasy quest story with corrupt politics, wondrous magic, and illicit encounters in a supernatural world where no one is safe.

Three hundred years ago, the sacred tablet granted by their god, Jezabet, turned black, and eight kingdoms broke free, plummeting into the bottomless sea. There was no warning, and no one knows why.

Now, a strange illness plagues Aldersward. Crowned Prince Aedyn's sisters, Achelle and Annora, his father, and countrymen are desperate and grief-stricken. All hope is lost...

Until someone dreams, and Aedyn leaves behind his mistress and his betrothed to cure their nation. He enlists his friends; a brazen playboy, a gentle strongman, and an ancient mentor. Together, they set out on a perilous journey-few believe they will survive.

This isn't a fairy tale-s3x becomes currency, murder is ordinary, and love doesn't conquer all.

Everyone loves a hero-good triumphs evil. But few dare to question how victory ripples into consequences. Explore this exciting concept in the Blackened Tablet Series.

Author Aaryanna Abbott interviews her character Prince Aedyn of Aldersward for The Blackened Tablet Series: A Crown Forged By Victory’s Consequence.

Aaryanna: What is your motivation in this book?
Aedyn: I want to save my mother, Queen Anya. My sisters and father are devastated by her illness. The fact I will also escape my betrothal is a pleasant by-product of my quest.

Aaryanna: What is it like to be the Crowned Prince of Aldersward?
Aedyn: From an onlooker’s perspective, I imagine it appears glamorous, and perhaps one would be envious. But I can assure you it is the exact opposite when you are on the inside. I’m little more than an object. I feel kindred to none because I am the only prince. It makes me different—I dare say, abnormal. I’m an onlooker watching others scrutinise my behaviour and actions. In the kingdom, each person gets to have an opinion of me. There is no privacy. I must guard every word I use and suspect everyone I come into contact with. My family has no home, only estates and a castle provided by the kingdom. I am never alone, and yet, I am.

Aaryanna: Do you have a celebrity lookalike?
Aedyn: I closely resemble Ian Somerhalder when he went through his shaggy hairstyle stage, but I believe he would be envious of my 6’3” stature and olive skin tone.

Aaryanna: Do you have any bad habits?
Aedyn: I twisted my hair and my finger or play with my bottom lip when I am trying to solve a problem.

Aaryanna: Do you have a current lover and what is your relationship like?
Aedyn: Azalea—a whore in Aldersward City. Our relationship is one of a fantasy life where I have complete control. Though I don’t wear my ring, she and those within the brothel know who I am, yet they mind their business. I pay her to be available to only me. I decide how long I will stay, when I will leave, what acts we will perform, and how much her time is worth. She understands our relationship will not elevate her station. With her, I know a comfort I have never known.

Aaryanna: What do you pretend to feel strongly about to impress people?
Aedyn: Ammaris—my betrothed. Besides my immediate circle, everyone believes I am happy with our marriage contract. And I shield her from the pain of knowing I am not. I don’t wish the kingdom to talk about her and my unhappiness. They would blame her, and it has little to do with her person.

Aaryanna: What is your current short-term goal?
Aedyn: Avoid my marriage and find a cure for my mother and our people.

Aaryanna: What is your current long-term goal?
Aedyn: Marry and ensure my people are taken care of by providing them with their next ruler before I die.

About Aaryanna Abbott:

This is another of my pen names. For every pen name, I use a different part of who I am. I imagine this is how she looks.

What’s this part of me like?

I was a daddy’s girl. The very epitome of spoilt.

I love to be wild and crazy—experience everything the world has to offer. I’m adventurous and my carefree disposition is contagious.

I’m loyal to a fault and don’t care what expectations or labels society has bestowed upon me. I believe one’s truth is more valuable than anyone’s perception.

This part of me writes for escapism—to be free of my mundane day to day and live in a magical world almost as real to me as earth. Except in my imaginary world, I control all things and it pleases me to no end.

Do you know how happy you would be living there?
