Bible Verses
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. - Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

Miracle at Manchester is an inspiring film based on a true story. It's about a high school athlete named Brycen who gets diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer. His chance of survival is bleak, but with the power of prayer, miracles can happen.
Brycen is your typical high school teenager. He's a well-liked student at his private Catholic school. He plays baseball and football. And he's got a loving, supportive family.
He gets a nose bleed in class one day, but thinks nothing of it. Soon, the headaches start. And then the blackouts. Worried, his dad rushes him to the hospital, only to be met with probably one of the worst doctors I have ever seen depicted in media. She's extremely rude and uncaring, and she brushes off the symptoms as dehydration. She even has the audacity to suggest drugs at one point. Thankfully, though, one of Brycen's dad's co-workers knows someone, and she is able to get them in touch with Dr. Getty, who discovers a tumor.
Brycen undergoes surgery, and everything seems to be going well. Until the blackouts start again. Scared and unsure, Brycen's family and friends start to prepare for the worst. But there's an experimental treatment being offered in Florida. But before they take the trip to undergo the treatment, Brycen's entire school comes together to pray for him. They reach for him, using their touch to channel the healing power of God into Brycen with the hope and faith that it might help, even if in some small way.
And as they say, God works in mysterious ways...
I really liked this movie. It's heartwarming. It's inspiring. And it's emotional. I found myself tearing up quite a few times. As a parent, I know the thought of losing a child to something as awful as brain cancer is just... it's unfathomable. I honestly can't even imagine having to go through something like that. But Brycen's parents went to bat for him and didn't give up. And the scene with the whole school coming together for him was just... I got chills. I cried. It was a beautiful moment, and I honestly wish more people had that level of support and love.
The power of faith, of love, of hope... it's pretty amazing what it can do.
The cast is really wonderful in this, and I think the actor who played Brycen was great. He really gave a powerful performance, as did the actor who played his father. Those two really made this whole movie, at least for me.
I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys heartwarming, inspirational stories that are based on real-life events. It's well worth a watch.
