My Review
Dorothy Dustbucket is a cute children's story about a cleaning fairy who lives in the attic of a family's house. Only the little girl can see Dorothy, but Dorothy doesn't mind. She's happy just to clean and tidy the house, although she doesn't quite understand modern technology. Instead of using the washing machine, Dorothy washes clothes by hand. Instead of using the dryer, she hangs the clothes out to dry. And even though the parents might not know what's going on, they seem content with the fact that they don't have to clean much at all.
I think young readers will enjoy the rhyming scheme and the overall story, as well as the adorable illustrations. And adults (especially moms) will relate to the parents, wishing they could have a Dorothy as well. I know having a cleaning fairy would be awesome and keep me from stressing out as much. 😂
There were only a couple of minor issues with the book. There were a couple of misspellings, and it seemed like the father changed race after his first appearance. He was a lighter color when he first showed up, but by the end of the book, he was darker. But other than that, the book was a delightful read that parents and kids can enjoy together.
4 stars!
